DEATH OF ADELAIDE MACKEY PLATZ

Note: Ella Campbell Mackey died very young. Her children were raised by their paternal grand parents, and contact was lost with this family.

Obituary of Adelaide Platz
Alelaide M. Platz, 73, of Sidney (Nebraska) passed away early Wednesday morning, May 31, 2006 at Memorial Health Center in Sidney. Funeral services will be held 10:00 A.M. Saturday, June 3 in the First United Methodist Church in Sidney with the Reverend Alan Davis officiating. Burial will follow in the Greenwood Cemetery in Sidney.
Visitation will be on Friday from 3:00 to 6:00 P.M. at the Holechek Funeral Home in Sidney.
Memorials have been established to the First United Methodist Church or to the Memorial Health Center.
Adelaide M. Platz was born September 23, 1932 in Broken Bow, Nebraska, the only child of Irene and William Mackey. Her mother died shortly after the birth of Adelaide. Her grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Clarence Mackey, Sr. of Ansley, Nebraska, raised Adelaide. After her marriage to John W. Platz the couple lived in San Diego, California for three years and then they moved to Lincoln, Nebraska where they lived seven years while Dr. Platz pursued his Doctor of Dental Surgery Degree.
Adelaide and John Platz moved to Sidney in 1962, where Dr. Platz practiced dentistry until his retirement in 2005. Together they raised a family of six children.
Mrs. Platz was a member of the First United Methodist Church, Order of Eastern Star Providence Chapter #108, and had served for several years on the Guardian Council of Job’s Daughters in whatever area she was needed, but her main interests revolved around raising her children.
Survivors are her husband; her sons and daughters-in-law, William and Paula Platz of Mitchell, South Dakota, Richard Platz of Ft. Collins, Colorado, Paul and Lisa Platz of Baytown, Texas; daughters and sons-in-law, Johna Walker of Lincoln, Nebraska, Mary and Kent Matsutani of Kapolei, Hawaii, Amy and Bradley Stepp of Stoughton, Wisconsin; 10 grandchildren, Ryan, Heather, Mallory, Jessica, David, Megan, John, Jocelyn, Garrett and Rachel.
Her parents preceded her in death.
